Who do you think it'll be? I hope it is someone who brings a bruising run oriented style to the field that mixes in smart effective passing. Mike Martz has been good but he is not the right guy for SF. Frank Gore needs to be the guy who rushes for 1500 yards and scores 15 touchdowns. With Foster as the back up our RB core is solid. That paired with a good defense spells out the potential to win. Look at teams like Pittsburgh, Baltimore and the New York Giants.

Mon, December 29, 2008 - 3:20 PMRumor has it if the Chargers hadn't won last night Norv Turner would have been fired. But they won big, so we won't be getting him back. lol
What about Scott Linehan or Eric Mangini? -

Re: The Next Offensive Coordinator
Mon, December 29, 2008 - 3:42 PMYeah, I was also hoping for a Charger lost last night so we could keep that Turner rumor going. I have a feeling Singletary is going to keep all the pieces in place, so I'm almost betting that Martz will still be calling the shots and he will work under Singletary on this. -

Re: The Next Offensive Coordinator
Mon, December 29, 2008 - 3:57 PMI would be happy with Martz. If nothing more, then just to have some continuity. I bet Hill will play better if he is in the same system for two whole years in a row. I would be surprised if it happened, but not displeased. -

Who knows yet what the heck will happen? It's kinda like all the "experts" predicting what will happen with our economy in '09. As for me, I'd love to see the government bail out the 49ers, so they can spend freely on whoever they want. *s* -

Mike Martz Fired As 49ers Offensive CoordinatorSAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / AP) ―
Former St. Louis coach Mike Martz has been fired as San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator.
Martz was let go Tuesday by Mike Singletary, who was made the permanent head coach of the team Sunday night after going 5-4 as the interim coach.
"After an evaluation period I felt it was best to go in a different direction," said Singletary regarding the dismissal of Martz. "This was not an easy decision because I appreciate Mike Martz, and I enjoyed working with him. He is a true professional, and I wish him the best in the future. I do recognize the need for a long term solution on the offensive side of the ball."
Upon taking over, Singletary had benched J.T. O'Sullivan, Martz's chosen quarterback, and installed Shaun Hill at the position.
The 57-year-old Martz coached the Rams from 2000-2005, taking a medical leave after five games in his final season because of heart problems.
He coached the Rams to the 2002 Super Bowl and was the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis team that won the 2000 title with "The Greatest Show On Turf."
He was offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions in 2006-2007. -

Tue, December 30, 2008 - 3:08 PMWell so much for Martz & Singletary working together next season! -
-
Re: The Next Offensive Coordinator
Tue, December 30, 2008 - 3:37 PMIt probably came down to the fact that Martz was not going to be coaching Offense for more then a season or two. He was auditioning for a head coach's job. Whether he was the best coach for next year is one question, but for the sake of continuity, a longer term coach might better serve,

Yeah but now the 49ers will have their 7th OC in as many years. Kinda hard to move forward when your OC changes every season.
I saw that Shanahan got fired by the Broncos. I thought for a moment that maybe we could get him back as OC, until I then realized at least three other teams would love to have him as head guy. *g* -

Tue, December 30, 2008 - 4:08 PMHeck Shanahan is a good coach. I had always wished we had gotten him before letting the Broncos get him. -

Re: The Next Offensive Coordinator
Tue, December 30, 2008 - 11:24 PMI think that Fartz, and Shannie will be head coaches soon. I had a feeling Fartz was gone. He was too hard headed to work the way Singletary wanted. On a side note, I can see Shanahan go to Cleveland and Martz become the coach with the Jets as I don't really think the reports of Cowher to the Jets hold water. -
-
Re: The Next Offensive Coordinator
Wed, December 31, 2008 - 2:03 AMCowher already asked the Jets to remove him from their list of candidates.
